Joseph P. FarrarCounsel

Joseph Farrar is Counsel to the Firm. His practice includes all facets of intellectual property with emphasis on patent preparation and prosecution, primarily in the electrical and mechanical arts, and in particular in imaging technologies, medical devices, and machine tools and parts. His practice areas also include trademarks, opinions, and counseling.

Prior to joining Isshiki & Partners, Joe had a long engagement with academia. A Fulbright-Hays fellowship brought him more or less permanently to Japan, where he has been a resident since 1998. He has worked in Japanese patent firms and American law firms as well as in solo practice, and has built up an extensive portfolio of clients ranging from individual inventors to small- and medium-size firms to large corporations. Fluent in Japanese, he has taught courses in patent translation since 2002. He is now trying to master Italian.
